Dear students and staff,
In an effort to stay ahead of the growing demands on the internet connection, we are pleased to announce that we have upgraded the on-campus Internet bandwidth/speed. In addition to the internet upgrade, we will implement the following changes on the Wi-Fi SSID (Service Set Identifier) at APU and APIIT Campuses starting from 5th April 2018, which are aimed at enhancing Wi-Fi Internet performance:
This is the most recommended Wi-Fi SSID to experience better Wi-Fi Internet speed . The BYOD@APU Wi-Fi SSID will be enabled to support only 5Ghz. As a result, the SSID only will be visible to 5Ghz Wi-Fi devices and connected devices are expected to experience the following benefits:
- Faster Wi-Fi connection up to 1,000 Mbps and internet speed up to 30Mbps.
- No more Sign-On required after successfully register/connected to BYOD@APU. To get connected to BYOD@APU, connect to Visitor@APU SSID and click Register Device button and follow the instruction.
The Wireless@APU Wi-Fi SSID will be enabled to support only 2.4Ghz. With a separation between 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi band, 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi band will be less congestion and connected devices are still expected to experience the following benefit:
- Good Wi-Fi connection up to 450Mbps and internet speed up to 10Mbps.
Our helpdesk team and Technical Assistants are ready to help you to solve any issues or answer any questions related to the BYOD@APU and Wireless@APU. To ensure a smooth transition to BYOD@APU, please walk-in to the APU ‘s TechCentre during office hours (8:30am to 6pm) which presently located at the APU Level 6 or APIIT’s Helpdesk which located at the APIIT level 3.
